Xelvin sponsors student formula team

Xelvin have just agreed to sponsor this year’s Formula student DIT  team http://www.formuladit.com/.   The formula DIT team is a group of 15 final year Manufacturing and Mechanical engineering students  from the Dublin Institute of Technology http://www.dit.ie/ in Ireland.

The DIT team will compete in the annual formula  student competition held at Silverstone every July http://www.formulastudent.com/default . The competition is the biggest educational motorsport event in Europe. It challenges university students to design and build a single seat racing car and compete with it in a series of static and dynamic events. The technology and performance of the cars is tested while each team has to demonstrate their understanding of the design and present their costs and business proposal. Teams are scored on their car’s performance, on the engineering behind the design and on their overall business proposal .

This is the second year a team from the Dublin Institute of technology www.dit.ie  will enter the challenging  class 1 competition.  The  competition offers students an invaluable opportunity to work as part of a team that mirrors real life engineering experiences. Already five of last year’s team have been recruited by Xelvin to work in the automotive industry in Holland. The DIT team are delighted to form a new partnership with Xelvin and it is hoped that Xelvin will be able to place many more DIT graduates in the future.
